Holistic management as a way of life : A conversation with Meghan Sapp from the Savory Institute’s Hub Del Norte

Welcome back to “What the Field”! In our latest episode, we had the pleasure of chatting with Meghan Sapp, a remarkable farmer living 95% off-grid on her farm in Navarra, Spain. Originally from the US, Meghan went from agricultural journalist to lobbyist (or “the L word”) to farmer and co-founder of the “Hub del Norte”, one of the many hubs that are part of the Savory Institute network. Here she focuses on holistic management and regenerative agriculture with farmers across the north half of the Iberian Peninsula and the South of France.

These hubs serve as educational centres, bringing farmers together to learn about holistic management practices and the benefits of regenerative agriculture in a tailored, collaborative, and independent way.

During our conversation, Meghan explains the essence of holistic management. It involves making decisions with a long-term perspective, considering the broader impacts on the ecosystem. The approach challenges conventional thinking by prioritizing sustainable solutions over short-term fixes. Meghan really inspired us to continue pursuing positive change in the world of farming.
